First Vital Stim session with speech therapy at WestSide

My Wednesday morning began on this May 27th at 5:30 a.m. by getting up to stretch. After doing so, I had shave and taken my shower, thus getting ready for the day ahead. After doing so, I had gone out into the kitchen to eat some grapes while drinking my hot cocoa. I then had toasted an english to go along with my bowl of cereal. Once I had finished eating my breakfast, I had returned to my bedroom at 7:00 so as to brush my teeth. Once I had cleaned my bathroom, I had gone to the laundry room so as to hang a load of laundry to dry. At 7:45 I had then started another load before leaving for therapy. I had arrived at WestSide For 9:15, just enough time to pute my things in my locker before meeting with Maria for my counseling session. We had focussed on what things still frustrate me at this point in my recovery. At 10:00 I had met Mat in the gym for my P.T. session. Today Mat and I first went outside outside so as to toss rings to try to get around a post while trying to keep my balance. Mat and I then passed a ball back fourth. At 10:30 we then went back into the gym so that I could walk ten minutes on the treadmill. At one point in my walking, Mat had me taking slow giant steps. Mat then had me standing on an arix pad. As I was doing so, Mat had me turning my head in every direction. We then passed a ball so as not to lose my balance. At 11:00 I had made my way to the conference room for Brain Injury Education Group. Today we reviewed how the new glasses worked for us to help demonstrate different types of vision during our presentations instead of the old ones we use to use. We then talked about our next presentation on June 24 to be given in front on the scrub club. A group of school aged kids interested in going into the medical field after graduation. At 11:40 We then worked on glassed with using construction paper. At 12:00 I had gone to the dining area to eat my lunch before taking a shower. I then made my way to the conference room for support group. Today Deb and Maria had us discussing the quote, "Smiling is definatly one of the best beauty remedies. If you have a good sense of humor and a good approach to life, that is beautiful." At 2:00 I then met with Susan for speech. She is to perform my second round of vial stim since my stroke. I had first given her the notes I had taken on all the foods I had problems with swallowing in the past two weeks. She then hooked me up to the Vital Stim. Electrical stimulation low doses designed to improve muscle function for swallowing. After my first twenty minute session of vital stim I had gone home. I had arrived home at 4:30, thus going strait to my bedroom to blog before dinner.
