Learning a new strategy during speech

My Wednesday morning began on this third day of June by getting up at 5:30 to stretch. After doing so, I then preceded to strap on my ankle weights. I then moved and lifted my legs in every direction possible. At 6:12 I had shaved before taking my shower. At 6:30 I had gone out into the kitchen to eat a banana sandwich for breakfast. Once I had finished eating, I had brushed my teeth. After doing so United soon arrived and I was on my way to therapy. Upon my arrival, I had put my lunch and things into my locker before meeting with Maria for counseling. Today we continued to talk about my frustration I am having do to my most recent stroke. At 10:00 I had met Sandra in the gym for my P.T. session. I had first walked on the treadmill for for twenty minutes. We then went out back in the parking lot so that I could ride the incombant bike. At 11:00 I had made my way back inside, thus going to the conference room for Brain Injury Education Group. Today we had discussed our next upcoming presentation to be done in Farmington once again at Franklin Memorial Hospital in front of the scrub club. This club is made up of kids interested in entering the medical field after graduating high school. We discussed the date then went through hand outs we thought would be beneficial to give the students after our presentation. At 12:00 I had taken a shower before sitting down to eat my lunch. At 1:00 I had gone to the conference room to listen to fish stories during support group. HA HA HA! Clients were talking about fishing trips they have been on. At 2:00 I then had met with Susan for speech therapy. Susan had first rubbed my throat area under my chin. she then stuck on the sticky tape like substance so as to connect the electrodes to. I was able to tolerate the stimulation from a six up to an eight today. While drinking liquid today I was able to go from four swallows last session to to two this session. As we were talking she had noticed the mout droop on my right side and was wondering if I would like to do some vital stem on my right side of my lip. I had replied, it is worth a try. She then gave me strategy to use to help food not get stuck in my throat. She had suggested I turn my head to the right, so as to close the right side of my throat, which is the week side so that food would go down and not get stuck. At 3:00 I had left for home. I had arrived home at 4:30. Once inside I had put on something comfortable before sitting down to blog. What a day in speech. The strategy of turning my head seems to be working. As I am eating my salad, I had not choke once and the food is going down.
